It may be the middle of winter, but we’re dreaming of hot summer days and the sweet, local produce they bring. Since our Local Farm Boxes were more popular than ever last year, sign up now to ensure you’re one of the first to know when 2013 Local Farm Boxes become available. That way, you can get your hands on a box before they all sell out!

What’s a Local Farm Box?
A Local Farm Box is filled with 100% Midwest-grown organic produce and available from late June through early October. Early in the season, it will be heavy on the veggies until fruit arrives late in the summer. You’ll see beets, corn and summer squash from Harvest Moon Farms in Viroqua, Wisc., peppers and leafy greens from Harmony Valley Farm also in Viroqua, apples from Molter Orchards in Watervliet, Mich., and so much more! But if you have a hankering for a banana at any time, not to worry — you can always sub those in or add them to your order! The Local Farm box is available in two sizes: Bitty and Small.

How’s that different from a CSA?
You can enjoy the freshness of local produce as well as the flexibility of being a Door to Door Organics customer. Unlike a CSA, or community-supported agriculture farm share, a Local Farm Box offers flexibility so you can:

  • Substitute up to five items with every order. Don’t like chard? Sub it out.
  • Going out of town? Schedule a vacation. You can even switch back to a regular box at any time.
  • Skip or makes changes to your delivery up until 8 a.m. the day before.
  • Add other items to your order, like locally sourced meat, farm-fresh dairy foods, and more!

As always, there’s no commitment, and you’ll pay per order. You’ll also feel great about supporting a wide variety of local farms while enjoying their bounty all summer long. So sign up now to be the first to know when the Local Farm Box becomes available.

  1. We used to participate in a CSA, but couldn’t make the pick up time work. I can’t wait to try Door to Door, and to make our food dollars really count!
